The bride, Victoria, and I met a couple years ago when she was the maid of honor at a wedding I was shooting. So I was ecstatic when she contacted me about her own wedding on St. Patrick’s Day weekend at the Historic Billings Depot! She was surprisingly calm too when she mentioned that they would be planning everything in less than 4 months! But it all came together quite nicely and I’m in love with the emerald green & copper that they chose for their colors. So elegant!! Not to mention this group was incredibly fun to work with!
Historic Billings Depot Wedding
It is evident that Victoria has a close group of friends as they supported her throughout the day. I loved witnessing the special bond that she has with her sister (Jenna) too – probably because I’m super close with my sister as well.
Funny story, well I guess it’s crazy more than funny! As I was visiting with the groom (Alex), he told me about how he almost didn’t make it to Montana for the wedding!! He lives in Texas and due to the recent snow storms, lots of flights were cancelled and he had to re-route his trip in order to get here in time for the rehearsal dinner. But it all worked out and that stress of traveling left his body once he saw his beautiful bride!
Alex + Victoria
Alex & Victoria met through mutual friends and have been dating long-distance for a while now between Texas & Montana. I can’t imagine how hard it has been for them to only see each other every few months. So this wedding wasn’t just a huge celebration, it also meant that they could finally be together… FOREVER!!!
The Proposal Story
Victoria decided to surprise Alex at Thanksgiving by flying down to Texas and visit him. Little did she know that he had a surprise of his own! He planned a romantic date to an atrium where he had a private dinner set out and then he proposed to her! He already had the ring, so he was just waiting for the right time to pop the question. He chose a Montana Sapphire ring because he knew that she would be moving to Texas after the wedding, so this way she would always have a piece of Montana with her.
Look closely, the bridesmaid’s bouquets are actually paper flowers that the bride made! How cool is that?!!
Alex is one of 10 kids so this was definitely a large family to photograph! And his parents drove 17 hours so that they could move Victoria’s stuff down to Texas for her! Now that’s LOVE!!!
Ceremony at the Historic Billings Depot
On a chair next to the bride’s father was a bouquet of flowers and a photo of Victoria’s late mother who passed away less than 2 years ago. Although she wasn’t at the ceremony physically, her spirit was definitely present.
A special shout out to all the vendors that made this day absolutely perfect for Victoria & Alex!
