Spend some time before your session thinking about what prep would make you feel the most confident, and make sure to get that scheduled. Do you need to make a nail appointment? Order that new pair of glasses? Spend a few nights doing some teeth whitening?

How to Prepare for Your Session
Let me be clear that none of these things are mandatory, but if it is important to you and will make you feel like the star you are, make sure you have time to do those things before you get in front of the camera.
Hair is another critical factor to consider when preparing for your photoshoot. You want to look recognizable in your photos, so consider styling your hair the way you wear it on a regular basis instead of going to a hairstylist the day of and getting a brand-new do.
If you’re hoping to get a haircut sometime soon, aim to have it done about a week before your headshot. This way you won’t need to worry about an awkward just-cut look.
PREP FOR MEN:
- Clean and trim any facial hair starting 2-3 days before so you have time to fix any mistakes or shape issues.
- Clean your nails and neatly trim them.
- Iron or steam and hang clothing so you’ll be ready to go the day of!
PREP FOR WOMEN:
If you’re going to have your makeup done, make sure you choose an artist who understands your everyday look. We want you to look like YOU!
- Paint your nails A NEUTRAL color or CLEAR polish.
- Wear a neutral, non-shiny bra. Patterned bras show underneath clothes ESPECIALLY under studio lights!
Even if you don’t wear makeup, a little can elevate your headshot. The same goes for lipstick. Even if you don’t typically wear any, without a pop of color on your lips they’re going to be more likely to blend into your skin. Find a shade you love and rock it.
